Black Eye Friday

A 1 track jazz instrumental pop single (3m 6s) — released September 9th 2013 on Brassroots Music

The single Black Eye Friday is the first oringinal track written for the band and written by band leader Jerome Harper

The inspiration from the track came from the all out bar fights that happen in Carlilse every Friday. The night is aptly named Black Eye Friday.

Brassroots has enjoyed steady airplay among an array of top DJs around the world including BBC Radio's Giles Peterson, Rob Da Bank, Sean Rowley on Magic and Choice FM with Calvin Francis. They're staples in sets by Mr. Scruff in the U.K. and Lefto all over Europe. In California, KCRW's Jeremey Sole, and all along the East Coast in the United States by Rich Medina.

The band released a 7 track EP of cover versions in 2009. 3 tracks from that EP were re-released by Canadian label boss John Kong at Do Right! Music in 2010. Those 3 tracks Good Life, Karma Police and 7 Nation Army have since appeared in the iTunes top 100 charts well over 1,000 times in the last 3 years including number 1's in Belgium, Portugal and New Zealand.

Brassroots gained notoriety by playing instrumental brass band covers of popular party bangers and continued to grow through their own brand of brass band pop. Their most popular cover by far to this date is of Inner City's Good Life.

This album is the band's second self release, this time through their own record label Brassroots Records.
